One neat thing about tile is that it’s priced by the square foot. It uses the same amount of mastic and grout to install, no matter the pattern used. Some patterns DO have a slightly higher waste factor (usually those set on a diagonal), but for the most part, laying tile in a pattern can increase the visual interest of inexpensive tile WITHOUT increasing the price.
